White Fillings

WHAT ARE WHITE FILLINGS?

Mercury-free and beautifully life-like

Fillings can finally restore the natural appearance to a previously decayed or broken tooth.

Advances in colours and shade have added a life-like visual quality to the everyday fillings that we perform, and advances in materials technology mean that we are more confident that each filling is now stronger and more long-lasting than before. We also make every effort to ensure that fillings are a pain-free and stress-free process!

White Fillings are used to replace traditional silver fillings and improve the shape colour and size of you tooth. Normally your dentist will conduct an examination of your teeth and assess whether white fillings are the appropriate solution for you. The filing material we use is called composite resin, which these days is often bolstered with the addition of extremely strong nano-ceramic particles. Although amalgam or metal fillings do still hold a place within dentistry, we are proud to say that currently 100% of the fillings that we place are composite resin or white fillings. This allow us to forget about the minor issues with Amalgam such as its mercury content, possibly mercury ingestion by the patient, and problems to do with amalgam disposal.

Procedure: Under local anaesthesia, the placement of these white fillings is usually very pain free. The resin is placed into the tooth layer by layer and set by a special blue light. Depending on the size and filling of the tooth, the procedure is usually completed within the hour and can last for many years in the right hands. Regular check-ups with your dentist will help prolong the life of your filling and keep it looking white and bright.
